Yale University

Yale University was founded in 1701 as the Collegiate School in the home of Abraham Pierson, now it has a total undergraduate enrolment of 5,477 and the campus size is 343 acres. In 1716 the school moved to New Haven with the generous gift by Elihu Yale of nine bales of goods, 417 books, and a portrait and arms of King George I, then it was renamed as Yale College in 1718.

Yale developed on a steady expansion by establishing the Medical Institution in 1810, Divinity School in 1822, Law School in 1843 and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences in 1847, the School of Fine Arts in 1869 and the School of Music in 1894. Finally in 1887 Yale College became The Yale University.

It continued to add to its academic offerings with the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies in 1900, School of Nursing in 1923, School of Drama in 1955, School of Architecture in 1972 and the School of Management in 1974. As Yale enters its 4th century, its goal is to become a truly global university by educating leaders & advancing the frontiers of knowledge not simply for the country USA, but for the entire world.
